About the Teacher: Discovery Lab Director Website: www.melodyshaw.com Grade level: 4th/5th Subjects taught: All Year’s experience: 7 Previous school or grade and subjects taught: Kindergarten, Multi-Age 4/5 and Looping 5th College: Delta State University: BS in Elementary Education                       National Board Certified Teacher     In May of 2000 I received my degree in Elementary Education from Delta State University.  The fall of 2000 I taught one year of kindergarten in Greenwood.  After my third child was born I choose to spend a year at home.  During the summer of 2002 my family and I moved to Grenada from the town that I grew up in, Carrollton.  My first five years of teaching were in multi-age at GUES.  My sixth year I taught a self-contained inclusion 5th grade Looping class.  In 2007 I became a National Board Certified Teacher in the area of Middle Childhood Generalist.  I have many great teaching memories from the past six years at GUES.  I love teaching all subjects!  I am very excited about teaching the Discovery Lab and focusing on the Science curriculum.  It will be a new adventure for me, and I look forward to each new memory that it will bring.  To learn more about my plans in the lab you can click on my personal website above.
