Dear Fourth and Fifth Grade Parents,

Welcome Back!!!! I hope that each of you had a great summer. It is once again time to hit the books!

Take Home Folders

The Take Home Folders will go home every Monday or the first day of the week. Please sign the folder and return the next day. You may keep the papers that are in the folder. Please sign in the folder if you would like a conference with me.

Student’s Binder

Your child’s binder will have all of their classroom notes. Please look through their binder every day to review what your child has learned that day. This is a great way to keep your child organized!!!

Lunch

We have our lunch at 11:50. Parents are more than welcome to come and eat lunch with their child. We will also be having snacks in the classroom about 9:00. Your child may keep bottled water at the table.

Accelerated Reader Points

Fifth graders need 20 points and fourth graders need 15 points. Your child needs to be reading at home and during their free time to get all of their points at the end of each nine weeks. I can not stress enough how important reading is to your child.

Homework

Spelling homework will be given out on the first day of the week. The homework is not due until Thursday. The spelling test will be given on Thursday. The homework will be in your child’s binder. The spelling homework will be a daily grade.

Vocabulary Words are given on the first day of the week. Vocabulary test will be on Fridays.

Math Homework will be in your child’s math workbook.

I do not give much homework, but when I do I expect each child to do their homework and to have it completed.

Classroom Rules

I have a set of classroom rules that I expect each child to follow. Your child has a copy of the classroom rules in their binder. Consequences are carried out and rewards are given.

I will keep you posted throughout the year about important events and any kind of major tests that are scheduled. Please do not hesitate to contact me at the school (226-2818). I also have a Yahoo Messenger, mcarollo_78, please add me to your list if you can. This is a great way to get in contact with me!!! I am looking forward to working with you and your child this school year.

                                                        Thank you,

                                                              Maggie Carollo
