General music is taught at Grenada Upper Elementary to all students. National, state and district skills in music continue to be the foundation for the school’s music curriculum. Students are exposed to keyboard instruction and Orff instrument instruction through which they hone their music skills.
Students are allowed to audition for two plays per year. At Christmas, the school alternates between two Christmas classics: A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker. This year—2009—we are presenting A Christmas Carol. In the spring of 2010 we will be doing Disney's The Aristocats Kids!
Auditions for the spring play will be held on Thursday, January 7, during the school day. Students will come during their activity period to the music room to audition. Signed forms must be turned in to Mrs. Shute by noon on Wednesday, January 6.The cast and chorus will be announced on this site after auditions are completed on Thursday and at the end of school the following day. If your child is selected for a part, he/she will receive a letter that must be returned signed for them to stay for rehearsals on the following Monday, January 11.
