General music is taught at Grenada Upper Elementary to all students. National, state and district skills in music continue to be the foundation for the school’s music curriculum. Students are exposed to keyboard instruction and Orff instrument instruction through which they hone their music skills.
Students are allowed to audition for two plays per year. At Christmas, the school alternates between two Christmas classics: A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker. This year—2008—we are presenting The Nutcracker. In the spring of 2009 we will be doing the children’s classic-No Strings Attached-Pinocchio.
Pizzazz! 2009 is the Grenada Upper Elementary showchoir group. It is made up of fourteen fifth graders selected by audition at the beginning of the school year. The group performs for school functions, civic clubs, nursing homes, businesses, etc. as they are invited to do so. Mrs. Billie K. Shute is the group’s director. Mrs. Tina Sanford, Claire Sanford and Katie Beth Walton add the choreography.
Auditions for Pizzazz! 2009 were held on Monday, April 11, 2008, in the GUE Gym and in the Music Room. Having so many talented children made the decision most difficult! The new group is as follows:

Attention: Parents of Pizzazz! The list of dates on this site is correct and the corrections will be made here even before you get a printed one. Hopefully that will be a great service for those of you who have Internet. For those who do not, we will still have a printed one and will try to keep it up to date with the one on this site.
Costumes are beginning to arrive. Please be sure you make your October payment on time. No dress costumes will be given out until your account is clear.
